Part-Time Jobs Reduce Debt and Offer Experience

Paying for college can be one of the most stressful parts of the college experience.  It’s essential to know all of the options to chip away at a big bill.  Financial Aid Award letters include grants and scholarships (free money with few strings attached), loans (need to be repaid) and earned-aid (usually work-study) – a guaranteed part-time job.  Part-time jobs, either under the work-study program or not, offer valuable opportunities for students to earn money, reduce debt, and gain valuable experience.




For some students, the college interview may be their first ever formal interview with a prize on the line: admission to the college. An interview can be an important piece of the admission puzzle, along with academics and extracurriculars, and may even help maximize your student’s merit-based financial aid (free money awarded by the college, not based on family finances).

Summer break can offer college students a unique opportunity to work, travel, and explore different career paths before having to make any formal career decisions.
